Alloy 625 (UNS N06625) helps your project to be safer and more durable

Alloy 625 (UNS N06625) helps your project to be safer and more durable

Alloy 625 (UNS N06625) is a nickel-based high-temperature corrosion-resistant alloy, known for its excellent oxidation resistance, corrosion resistance and high-temperature strength. Due to its stability in extreme environments, it is widely used in aerospace, marine engineering, chemical industry and energy fields.

1. Main features of Alloy 625 (UNS N06625)

(1) Chemical composition

Alloy Chemical Composition

(2) Mechanical properties

Material Mechanical Properties

Property

Typical Value

Yield Strength (0.2% Offset)

≥ 345 MPa

Tensile Strength

≥ 827 MPa

Elongation

≥ 30%

Hardness (Brinell)

≤ 220 HB

It has high strength and good toughness, and can maintain excellent mechanical properties even in low temperature environments.
Due to its solid solution strengthening mechanism, the alloy can obtain good strength without aging treatment.

(3) Corrosion resistance
Resistant to high temperature oxidation and carbonization: Suitable for environments up to 980°C, and will not become brittle due to long-term high temperature exposure.

Resistant to pitting, crevice corrosion and stress corrosion cracking: Especially suitable for harsh environments such as chlorides, seawater, and acidic media (such as sulfuric acid and nitric acid).

Resistant to strong acid and alkaline environments: Able to resist corrosion from strong acid media such as sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid, and hydrochloric acid.

2. Main applications of nickel-based high-temperature corrosion-resistant alloy UNS N06625

(1) Aerospace
Turbine engine parts: such as combustion chambers, tail nozzles, turbine shells, etc., can maintain strength and oxidation resistance at high temperatures.
Aircraft exhaust systems: long-term exposure to high temperature and corrosive gas environments.

(2) Marine engineering
Seawater treatment systems: suitable for heat exchangers, condensers, pipes, pumps and valves, and perform well in seawater environments.
Offshore oil drilling platforms: can be used for anti-corrosion fasteners, oil production pipelines and anti-corrosion coverings.

(3) Chemical industry
Acidic environment equipment: such as heat exchangers, reactors, storage tanks, pipelines, etc., can resist corrosion from strong acids such as sulfuric acid and phosphoric acid.
Hydrometallurgy: used for sulfuric acid leaching equipment to prevent high-temperature acid corrosion.

(4) Power generation and energy
Nuclear reactor components: suitable for high-temperature and high-pressure environments, such as pressure vessels, heat exchanger pipes, etc.
Exhaust gas treatment systems: can be used for exhaust pipes and filters in high-temperature corrosive environments.

3. Welding and processing of UNS N06625

Weldability: Alloy 625 has excellent welding performance and can be welded by TIG, MIG and plasma arc welding.

Processing performance:

Due to the high hardness, slow processing and carbide tools are required.

Solution treatment (980-1150°C, rapid cooling) can optimize performance.

4. Advantages of UNS N06625

Excellent high temperature strength, suitable for applications up to 980°C
Excellent corrosion resistance, especially pitting and crevice corrosion in chloride environments
Good weldability, suitable for welding of complex structures
Strong oxidation resistance, can remain stable in extreme environments

5. Limitations of UNS N06625

High cost, expensive due to high nickel, chromium and molybdenum content
Difficult to process, high hardness, high requirements for tools and processing methods

Alloy 625 (UNS N06625) is a high-performance nickel-based alloy that is widely used in aerospace, marine engineering, chemical and energy fields for its excellent corrosion resistance, high temperature strength and good weldability. Although the cost is relatively high, its excellent performance makes it an irreplaceable material in harsh environments.
