UNS N07718 is a nickel-chromium alloy being precipitation hardenable and having high creep-rupture strength at high temperatures to about 1300 °F (700 °C). The poor age-hardening response of alloy 718 permits annealing and welding without spontaneous hardening during heating and cooling. This alloy has excellent weldability compared to the nickel-base super alloys hardened by Aluminum and Titanium.

Corrosion Resistance:
UNS N07718 heat resistant alloy has excellent corrosion resistance to many media. This corrosion resistance is similar to that of other nickel-chromium alloys and is a function of its composition. Nickel contributes to corrosion resistance in many inorganic and organic compounds (except strongly oxidizing compounds) over a wide range of pH values.
It also contributes to resistance to chloride ion stress corrosion cracking. Chromium gives it resistance to attack by oxidizing media and sulfur-containing compounds. Molybdenum is known to contribute to resistance to pitting corrosion in many media.
