The Inconel lap joint flange is the same as a slip-on flange except it has a radius at the intersection of the bore and the flange face. This radius is necessary to allow the flange to accommodate the lap joint stub. Typically, the lap flange and lap joint stub are mated together as an assembly system. The normal dimensions of the Inconel lap flange are usually similar to other spines, but it does not have the raised face, they are used in conjunction with "lap joint stubs".

Advantages of Lap Joint Flanges
Lap joint flanges can rotate freely around the pipe. This provides the convenience of aligning the opposing flange bolt holes. The lack of contact with the fluid in the pipe increases the durability of these flanges.
Inconel lap joint flanges, such as Inconel 600, 601, 625, 686, 718 and 725 lap joint flanges, are a mixture of nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloys used for their high high temperature strength and good corrosion resistance. Due to their high thermal stability, the high alloy content of Inconel lap joint flanges enables them to withstand a variety of severe corrosive environments. In normal environments, such as atmosphere, seawater, neutral salts and alkaline media, Inconel lap joint flanges are almost not corroded.
