Inconel alloy is an austenitic stainless steel. It is used to produce a wide range of products and is classified into different grades based on its inherent properties. Inconel 600 sheets are one such product that is non-magnetic. They are resistant to general corrosion such as pitting and crevice corrosion. Moreover, these nickel alloy 600 sheets also have the ability to be hot or cold formed. They are resistant to stress corrosion and aging in both annealing and heavy cold working ranges. Hence, UNS N06600 strips are protected from chloride ion stress corrosion cracking.
ASTM B168 UNS N06600 also has oxidation resistant properties. Hence, it is suitable for applications and services that are susceptible to oxidation. This applies to services and applications that are exposed to high temperatures or high pressures. 2.4816 foil forms a thick, stable, passive oxide layer when heated. This layer protects the metal from further corrosive attack. Since Inconel 600 alloy coils exhibit good tensile strength over a range of temperatures, customers require it for high temperature applications. This is because thermally induced crystal vacancies easily cause creep in aluminum and conventional steels.
UNS N06600 hot rolled plates have high tensile strength as they are treated with solution strengthening process and precipitation hardening process. Its high oxidation resistance is due to the presence of chromium, while the corrosion resistance of Inconel 600 cold rolled plates is due to the presence of high amount of essential element nickel.
