Super duplex material comes with additional strength benefits along with the features of standard duplex ss. The dual phase microstructure makes it stronger and enhances its corrosion resistance. The super duplex pipe has a higher nickel content and thus, it is quite expensive.The super duplex steel pipes shows good mechanical properties like tensile strength of 795 MPa and yield strength of 550 MPa. It can be manufactured using different processes like cold pilgering, extrusion, tubes mill and piercing. This should be followed by a heat treatment and mechanical testing.

What is super duplex tubing used for?
The super duplex tubing is particularly suitable for heat exchangers and tubes for processing oil & gas. It can also be used for chloride containing processes and chemical tankers.
They are widely used in marine environments along with paper & pulp manufacturing. Super duplex materials are also used for manufacturing structural and mechanical components.
Is super duplex seamless pipe heat treatable?
Heat treatment of the super duplex seamless pipe is generally limited to solution annealing. It helps to restore the microstructure and properties of the material after hot forming. The process helps to dissolve and homogenize any precipitated phases along with improving its mechanical properties, toughness and corrosion resistance.
Typically super duplex is heated at 1050-1100 °C, and then they are rapidly quenched in various suitable mediums.
