UNS N10675 is a nickel-molybdenum alloy with excellent resistance to pitting, corrosion, and stress-corrosion cracking plus, thermal stability superior to that of alloy B-2. In addition, this nickel steel alloy has great resistance to knife-line and heat–affected zone attack. Alloy B-3 also withstands sulfuric, acetic, formic and phosphoric acids, and other non-oxidizing media. Furthermore, this nickel alloy has excellent resistance to hydrochloric acid at all concentrations and temperatures.

characteristics of Hastelloy UNS N10675
Corrosion Resistance
UNS N10675 is resistant to non-oxidizing acids, including hydrochloric, sulfuric, and phosphoric acids. However, B-3® has a low chromium content and should not be used in oxidizing acids or salts. The molybdenum content in B-3® confers resistance to chloride-induced localized corrosion, including chloride stress corrosion cracking and chloride-induced pitting and crevice corrosion.
Elevated Temperature Resistance
UNS N10675 does not possess good oxidation resistance and is limited to a maximum service temperature of 800°F (427°C).
Mechanical Properties
UNS N10675 is typically provided in the low-strength annealed condition. It maintains excellent toughness at cryogenic temperatures.
Heat Treatment
UNS N10675 cannot be strengthened by heat treating. It is typically annealed at 1950°F (1065°C) followed by rapid cooling. B-3® should not be exposed to temperatures in the range of 1100°F - 1500°F (593°C - 815°C) for extended periods, as deleterious phases can form in the microstructure leading to cracking. B-3® is a solid solution alloy and does not respond to age hardening.
Workability
UNS N10675 can be cold worked or hot worked through standard methods using common techniques. B-3® is prone to rapid work-hardening, and intermediate annealing treatments may be needed to recover ductility. Solution annealing should be conducted after cold working for optimum corrosion resistance.
