Socket weld flanges were originally developed for use on small high pressure pipelines. Their static strength is equal to Slip-On flanges, but their fatigue strength is 50% greater than double-welded Slip On flanges. The connection with the pipe is made with 1 fillet weld at the outside of the flange. But before welding, you need to make a space between the flange or fitting and the pipe.

Why are Super Duplex Socket Weld Flanges used?
These Socket Weld flanges are considered durable, corrosion resistance and oil & temperature resistant, and have a high tensile strength product range. These socket weld flanges are primarily work with the stub or daft end, which is butt welded to the pipe with the flange leaking behind it.
