Duplex Lapped Joint Flanges slides directly over the pipe. It is mostly used with stub end fittings and it is used to the stub end and the lap joint pipe flange. It is also free to rotate around the stub end. The main benefit of these pipe flanges that is the frequent dismantling that makes it often used for the applications. The lapped-joint flanges are the two-component of the assembly, with a stub end that has a lapped- joint ring flange placed over it. Here the stub end is then welded to the pipe and the flange ring can be rotated to align with the mating flange. Lapped-joint flanges with a stub end flange connection are used for large or the hard to adjust flanges.

Benefits of Duplex Lapped Joint Flanges:
- Lapped Joint flanges have certain special advantages over other flanges. These are as follows:
- Lapped Joint flanges include the freedom to swivel around the pipe. This facilitates the lining up of opposing flange bolt holes.
- Lack of contact with the fluid within the pipe leads to the superior stability of these flanges.
- In piping systems which corrode or erode quickly, the lap joint flanges may be salvaged for re-use.
- The pressure-holding capacity of lap joint flanges is little. But it is better than that of slip-on flanges.
- The Lapped Joint works as a backing ring on the stub.
- The main advantage of lapped joint flange is that the bolt holes can be aligned with the matching flange after the welds have been completed.
- They allow rotational alignment capability.
